Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

Founded in September 2020, the PTAC DEI Committee is comprised of
parents, staff and community members across ACPS. If you are interested in
joining or learning more, please contact: dei@alexptac.org

We meet monthly during the 2024-25 school year. Meetings are held via Zoom (sent prior) at 7PM unless otherwise noted. 

  1. Mon 9/30: Introductions new committee members, school successes, Chris Harris, School Board: redistricting, budget and more

  2. Wed 10/30:  Family and Engagement Center, advocacy and budget

Mission & Goals:

 

Support our local PTA units in building equitable and diverse school communities to promote family empowerment and engagement.

​

To accomplish this mission, the Committee:

  • Serves as a catalyst and resource in transforming local PTAs to relevant and fully representative membership organizations;

  • Partners with ACPS to identify and develop family engagement opportunities;

  • Assist in connecting PTA units with other community stakeholders that support family engagement;

  • Provides resources to PTA leaders in diversity & inclusion best practices.

Integrated Schools - prepares families with racial or economic privilege to commit to integrating our children, driving new narratives about education, and advocating for justice in our public schools with podcast.
